Abstract

1,056,903. Wire ropes. UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION. April 28, 1965 [May 1, 1964], No. 17923/65. Heading D1T. The wire rope has six strands 4 around a center core 2, each strand 4 comprising a center wire 10, four wires 12 stranded around the wire 10, then a stranded layer of eight wires 14, 16 and a final outer stranded layer of eight wires 18, the wires 16 being of smaller diameter than the wires 14 and being arranged alternately with the wires 14. The center core 2 may be of stranded wires arranged as shown or a 7 X 7 arrangement, or it may be a core of fiber.
