105,031. Woollatt, G. S. Sept. 27, 1916. Oppositely-running rotor type; motor power plant.-A turbine plant comprises two oppositely-running rotors 3, 4 which may respectively drive a circulating-pump 2 and an air-extraction pump 5, which may be coupled to a boiler-feed pump and a water-extraction pump. Each rotor has two tiers of blades 10, 11 of different contours arranged as shown, and the motive fluid, supplied simultaneously to the two rotors from nozzles 12, 13, flows through the blades 10, 11 in series. In a modification, the motive fluid leaving the blades 11 of the rotor 3 is conducted by stator blades to a further set of blades on the same rotor. Throttle valves 14, 15 may be controlled by independent speed governors 20, 21; alternatively, the arrangement of governors 23, 24 shown in Fig. 5 may be used, the governors controlling the throttle valves 27, 28 through a common floating-lever 33. In a modification, the links are arranged so that the governors 23, 24 control the valves 28, 27 respectively. Fluidpressure governors may be used instead of centrifugal governors, and fluid-relay motors may be introduced.
