Abstract

1,049,776. False twisting. KLINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. Feb. 19, 1963 [Nov. 24, 1961], No. 42216/61. Heading D1D. In a false twist tube 10 the elements about which the yarn is wrapped comprise at least two spaced non rotatable pins 17, 18 arranged transversely of the axis of rotation of the tube. As shown in Fig. 1 the pins are mounted across a slot formed in the head of the twist tube. The axes of the pins may, as shown in Fig. 1, be parallel with and one above the other or they may be inclined, crossing on the axis of the tube when viewed along this axis; alternatively they may be parallel and lie in a plane at right angles to the axis of the tube; they may be cylindrical or waisted as shown in Fig. 1. The slot in the head of the tube may be rectangular as in Fig. 1 or it might be V-shaped to facilitate threading up. In other forms the head of the tube is cup shaped with the slot cutting through the rim of the cup. To lighten the tube its head portion may be upwardly tapered while bridging pieces may be fixed across the slot to prevent splaying of the head at high rotational speeds. The pins are preferably formed from saphire.
