Abstract

1,049,668. Photographic silver halide emulsions. ORIENTAL SHASHIN KOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Nov. 6, 1963 [Nov. 12, 1962], No. 43806/63. Heading G2C. A light-developable photographic silver bromide or iodobromide emulsion contains from 10 to 40 mol. percent of a cadmium salt, from 10 to 25 mol. percent of stannous chloride and from 0.1 to 10 mol. percent of thiosemicarbazide per mol. of silver, and an excess of bromide ions. The cadmium salt may be the chloride, bromide, iodide or nitrate. The adjuvants may be incorporated into the silver halide emulsion just prior to coating, or from 0.1 to 1 mol. percent of the cadmium salt may be present during the physical ripening, e.g. by being added to an aqueous gelatino-potassium bromide or iodide-bromide solution before the addition of aqueous silver nitrate, the rest of the cadmium salt then being added just prior to coating.
