Abstract

1,049,567. Hydraulic presses. STAFFORD TOOL & DIE CO. Ltd. Sept. 17, 1964 [Sept. 20, 1963], No. 37117/63. Heading B5F. An hydraulic press comprises a top beam 1 (Figs. 1, 2, not shown) supported by a plurality of columns 2 and means to move the beam in relation to all the columns simultaneously to adjust the shut height of the press. The upper parts of the columns are screw-threaded and engage in threaded bushes 3 which can be rotated simultaneously by means of a chain 5 passing round sprockets 4 adjustably attached to the bushes. The chain is driven by an electric motor 30 through a slipping clutch 33 and a sprocket 35. Limit switches 22, 23 (Fig. 3, not shown) limit the upward and downward movement of the top beam with respect to the columns by switching the motor off.
