Abstract

1,049,552. Burners. DUIKER APPARATENFABRIEK N.V. April 8, 1965 [April 9, 1964], No. 14977/65. Heading F4T. The gas supply to a burner is controlled by a sleeve 8 slidable in the discharge end of the gas supply tube 4 and having axial slits providing variable passages for the gas, and the air supply from a fan is controlled by a butterfly valve 2, the gas sleeve 8 and the butterfly valve being connected for simultaneous operation by an adjustable linkage. The sleeve 8 has a rim adapted to engage the tapered end of the gas supply tube 4 to shut off the gas. The linkage between the sleeve 8 and the butterfly valve comprises a bell-crank lever 19, 20 having a pin 15 and slot connection with an end of a hollow rod 12 extending from the sleeve 8, and a lever 26, Fig. 3, not shown, coupled to the shaft of the butterfly valve and' having a roller 28 urged by a tension spring 40 into contact with a spiral cam 30 on a shaft 23 rotated by a reversible electric motor which receives impulses from a thermostat. The bellcrank lever 19, 20 is also connected to the shaft 23. The air valve 2 can be opened independently of the gas control sleeve by means of an electromagnet 37, Fig. 3, not shown, the armature of which has a pin- 23 and slot connection with the lever 26 coupled to the butterfly valve 2. An automatic control mechanism (not described) starts the fan and simultaneously energizes the electromagnet and at the ignition of a pilot burner 38 de-energizes the electromagnet so that the air valve is then controlled by the cam 30. A tube 16 supplying liquid fuel to an atomizer 17 extends through the hollow rod 12.
