Abstract
1,048,353. Dermatomes. D.S.DAVIES. Jan. 28, 1965 [Jan. 29, 1964], No. 3823/65. Heading A5R. A dermatome comprises a cutting head 1 with a blade 15 (Fig. 4 not shown) in a carrier 7, a rotatable shaft 5 having a crank pin 6 engaging a slot 10 in the carrier for reciprocating the blade, and a guard bar 20 (Fig. 1) pivoted to the cutting head by side members 21 and depressed against springs 24 by cams 25, the position of which may be adjusted to alter the gap between the blade and the guard bar and thus determine the depth of the cut. The cutting head has a removable base plate 3 and the blade carrier supports two conventional razor blades end to end or a single blade of equivalent length. The cams 25 are interconnected by a shaft 26 (Fig. 4 not shown). One of the cams is connected to a lever 27 carrying a spring-pressed locating pin 28 which may be engaged with one recess 29 of an arcuate series in the cutting head to adjust the cams to vary their pressure on the guard bar.
