Abstract

1,173,172. Sawing. SCINTILLA A.G. 5 April, 1967 [6 April, 1966], No. 15612/67. Heading B5L. A blade for a motor-driven, hand-guided compass saw machine having a reciprocable driving rod 11 provided with a bore 12 for receiving a shank of a blade, and a screw 14 and annular shoulder 17 narrowing the bore at the blade end for releasably securing the blade, the shoulder having two grooves 32 in which the shank of the blade is inserted, the blade comprising a shank having two preferably parallel longitudinal edges 21, 22, one of two lugs 23, 24 projecting from each edge, and the portion 25 of the shank between the lugs and cutting zone of the blade being narrower and substantially shorter than the portion 26 of the shank extending from the lugs to the end 27 of the shank. The driving rod consists of a piece 16 which is secured to a part 11 receiving the pressure screw 13 and has a relatively large bore 31 for accommodating the lugs 23, 24. The latter pass through slots 30 in the shoulder 17 and upon rotation of the blade through 90 degrees engage the grooves 32 into which they are pressed by the screw 14 which has a conical recess 19 for engaging the end 27 of the blade. The ratio of the widths across the lugs 23, 24, portion 26 and portion 25 is 8: 6-3: 5-5.
