Abstract

1,047,922. Back sights for guns. G. HAUGE July 5, 1963 [July 9, 1962], No. 26740/63. Heading F3C. A sight adapted to be positioned on the breech block casing or lock box neck 3 of a gun comprises a casing 1 having a vertically displaceable sight head 18 in which is laterally slidable a member 36 including the sight aperture 40. The spring-biased sight head is displaceable vertically by means of the co-operation of the surface 23 on the head and surface 12 on a laterally movable lug 11. The latter is movable to raise or lower the sight head by means of a knob 13 on a rod 10 which is in screw threaded engagement with the lug. The knob is provided with a spring-loaded ball 15 which co-operates with recesses 14 in the casing to hold the rod 10 against rotation unless the knob 13 is actuated. The U-shaped member 36 is moved laterally with respect to the head 18 by means of the screws 47, 48 screw-threaded into bores in the head. The ends of the screws are pointed at 51, 52 and co-operate with oblique surfaces 45, 46 on the member 36. The sighting aperture 40 may be covered by a pivoted flap 41 having a smaller aperture 42 therethrough for use in good light. The flap is held in the position shown or at right-angles thereto by a spring 44 acting with the square section of the flap as an over-centre device.
