Abstract

1,047,602. Cooling dynamo electric machines. SIEMENS S CHUCKERTWERKE A.G. April 14, 1965 [April 15, 1964], No. 16119/65. Heading H2A. In a vertical dynamo-electric machine, cooling fluid is circulated through the hollow arms 13 of a spider disposed above the rotor. As described, a generator, driven by a water turbine, is supported by a concrete cylinder 1 the upper end of which is closed by a spider 12 the spaces between the arms 13 of which are covered by plates 15. Fans are provided below openings 20 in each arm 13, which circulate air over coolers and through slots in the laminated stator and over end windings, the heated air being returned along the hollow arms 13. The fans and coolers may be mounted on rails 23 so that they may be withdrawn through flaps 24. Alternatively, the fans may be replaced by a single fan mounted on the rotor.
