Abstract

1,047,342. Rotary tables. O.-M. Ltd. Jan. 27, 1964 [Jan. 30, 1963; Aug. 30, 1963], No. 3372/64. Heading B3B. [Also in Division F2] A machine tool comprises a rotary table on a bed, the contacting surfaces of the parts being formed with groups of independent chambers of arcuate form to which lubricant under pressure is supplied. Each chamber has at least two inlets for lubricant. Each group of independent chambers is provided with means for detecting variations in the clearance between the bed and table attributable to the particular group and each group is connected to means for adjusting the supply of lubricant in dependence with the detected clearance. The detection means may be of the capacitor or electromagnetic type and the supply of lubricant may be adjusted manually or automatically. In an embodiment, a table 1, Figs. 2 and 5 (not shown), is provided with pressure chambers 9 which are supplied with lubricant from a reservoir 26, via a pump 25, tube 20, pipes 19, valves 21a, 21b, 21c, 21d, 21e, 21f and holes 17 in the table 1; and is provided with detectors 28. Similarly a support 2, Figs. 1 and 4 (not shown), is provided with pressure chambers 7, 8 and 8<SP>1</SP> and detectors 16. In use, the variation in clearance is detected and valves 21, Fig. 5 (not shown), may be manually adjusted by handles 22; alternatively, the detectors may automatically control the output of the pump 25, Fig. 2 (not shown).
