Abstract

1,046,510. Stacking trucks. E. WINTER, A. WINTER, E. WAGNER, R. WAGNER, F. KEIM, L. WAGNER, [trading as FIRMA ERNST WAGNER APPARATEBAU]. March 10, 1965 [March 24, 1964], No. 10160/65. Headings B7D and B7H. A stacking truck is provided with rollers 2, 2<SP>1</SP> for engagement beneath rails 3 in a gangway A between storage shelves B to prevent the truck tipping, and with rollers 14 for engagement with the rails 3 to provide lateral guidance. The rollers 2<SP>1</SP> are secured to the driven ground wheels 4 of the truck so as to propel the truck at a reduced speed along the rails 3. Ramps (Fig. 3, not shown), at the end of the rails 3 guide the roller 2, 2<SP>1</SP> into the rails and simultaneously raise the ground wheels 4, 4<SP>1</SP> from the floor. A hoist 7 slidable up the mast 7 on rollers 11 carries lifting forks 12 or a load platform, and a driving station 8 is entrained up the mast on roller 10 after initial movement of the hoist 7 brings about contact between stops 9, 21. The driving station 8 occupies in the lowered position a space 20 extending longitudinally of the truck to provide access to the driving station 8 from the rear. A control pedal and a hand switch must be operated simultaneously to propel the vehicle, and both a press-button and a lever must be actuated to raise or lower the hoist 7. In another embodiment (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown), the driven ground wheels 4 engage beneath the rails 3 and remain on the floor in the gangway. Rollers 2 are provided only adjacent the end of the truck supported by a single ground wheel 4<SP>1</SP>.
