Abstract

1,046,496. Knitting. M. NEBEL and E. NEBEL. Aug. 8, 1963, No. 31416/63. Headings D1C and D1K. Plush fabric is knitted on a circular knitting machine by feeding two threads to the needles and so operating the sinkers P that the webs G enter between the threads which respectively form loops which are drawn behind the neb outside the needle circle and obliquely to the needle hook and loops which are drawn vertically on the loop sinking point d under the neb. The horizontal loop sinking point c behind the neb with a high tip s is level with or higher than the usual sinking point d. A sinker, Fig. 2, (not shown) for a super-posed cylinder machine may have a neb of a similar type. The sinkers P are moved into the needle circle earlier than usual by an auxiliary cam T1 so that plush thread from feeder F2 is fed behind neb G. Counter cam T2 keeps the sinkers in position against the pull of the yarn. A feeder F3, Fig. 4 (not shown) has two yarn exits for producing plush fabric during reciprocatory knitting. Cams T1, T2 may form a unit to facilitate adjustment. If only the sole and high heel of the sock is knitted in plush fabric only part of the circumference of the machine is provided with special sinkers.
