Abstract

104,585. Brown, H. May 4, 1916. Multiple - expansion engines. - Superheated steam is delivered directly into the connecting- trunks or steam-mains between the cylinders. The three cylinders a, b c are connected by pipes f, g, which may receive superheated steam from a main h through valves j, l. Saturated or superheated steam is supplied to the pipe d leading to the engine through a valve e. When saturated steam is used, superheated steam may be supplied through a branch m controlled by a valve n. The ordinary main and superheated-steam main are controlled by valves connected to a common handlever.
