Control Of Steam Boilers And Waste-Gas Boilers
(AREA)
Abstract
13,801. Parshall, H. F. July 4. Steam pipes; steam supply, systems of. -Relates to the steam piping connecting engines and boilers when two or more of each are installed together. Fig. 2 shows in plan the arrangement of a single pair of boilers A, B and a single pair of engines C, D, the boiler A being connected to the engine C by the pipe E and the boiler B being connected to the engine D by the pipe F. According to the present invention, a transverse pipe G is connected to each of the pipes E, F by short branches controlled by valves, and each of the pipes E, F has valves above and below the short connecting-branches. Several such groups as that shown may be connected together by the transverse pipe G, a valve 0 being provided between each pair of groups. By suitably manipulating the valves, each boiler may be made to supply a separate engine, or the steam from two or more boilers may be taken to work a single engine, or other desired groupings can be effected.
