Abstract

1,045,418. Printing or marking. AKERLUND & RAUSING A.B. June 22, 1965 [June 26, 1964], No. 26372/65. Headings B6C and B6J. Packaging material 1, such as paper or cardboard, which has a protective layer 2 of wax, paraffin or similar thermoplastic substance, is printed upon by placing upon the material a paper sheet 3 with coatings of wax 4 and printing ink 5, the ink coating 5 being in contact with the layer 2, and then applying a heated stamp 7. The stamp 7 melts the parts of the layers 2, 4 adjacent thereto so that the part of the layer 4 and ink thereon is pressed into the layer 2. According to the depth of the impression, the ink may lie part way or completely through the layer 2 as shown at 8, 9 respectively. When the stamp 7 and sheet 3 have been removed, the layer 2 and parts of layer 4 deposited thereon solidify to retain the ink image in place.
