Abstract

1,045,296. Pipe coupling. STEWARTS & LLOYDS OF NEW ZEALAND Ltd. Jan. 20, 1964 [Jan. 20, 1963; March 28, 1963], No. 2389/64. Heading F2G. A joining means for pipes or tubes comprises a plate of springy material which is secured at its outer peripheral edge within a bore of a pipe or tube 8, the plate being provided with a central aperture wherein a joining part of a workpiece or second pipe or tube 11 can be accommodated, the inner edge of the plate being arranged to conform with, extend over and grip the outer surface of the workpiece or pipe. The workpiece may be a spigot attached to a wall (Fig. 3, not shown). When fluid carrying pipes are joined a resilient washer 9, of rubber or plastics material is secured to the inner surface of the first pipe adjacent the plate 1, the inner edge of the washer contacting the outer bore of the second pipe. Preferably, the inner edge of the plate is relieved by slots and is of a dished shape.
