Abstract
104,509. Burke, A. W. Feb. 24, 1916, [Convention date]. Motor meters registering excess. The driving effect of the current coil 36, Fig. 1, of an alternating-current meter is opposed by that of an auxiliary coil 37 energized from a current transformer 32 having a core which becomes magnetically saturated when the current reaches an agreed value; or the secondary of the transformer is connected directly to the current coil. Backward rotation is prevented by a ratchet device; or, as shown in Fig. 5, the circuit of the pressure coil 76 of the meter may be completed by a relay 71 in the main circuit when the current reaches the agreed value. The pressure coil may be supplied through a similar transformer. Meters for three-wire circuits may be similarly operated. Specification 270/15 is referred to.
