Abstract

Induction motor meters; special quantities, registering.- An alternating-current supply meter is furnished with a braking electromagnet connected across the mains and having its magnetic core so proportioned that the braking field is proportional to the supply voltage. A pair of electromagnets each of the form shown and provided with a winding g acts on the armature disc, for example of an induction motor meter, which rotates in the air gap n. The coils g are connected in series with one another across the supply mains, the braking effect being therefore greater on a rise of pressure and the rate of the meter being independent of small changes of pressure. The invention is applicable to the meter described in Specification 198,772, in which the armature rotates at a predetermined speed on no load. An auxiliary limb k may be provided wound with a series coil m which produces a flux across the gap n in opposition to the main flux due to the coil g, the effect being to cause the rate of the meter to increase with a load of low power-factor.
