Abstract

386,521. Supply meters. JOENS & CO., GES., W. H., 33, Franklinstrasse, Dusseldorf, Germany. May. 25, 1932, No. 14783. Convention date, May 26, 1931. [Class 37.] For the electrical integration of quantities measured by mechanical instruments such as steam and water meters, a slider is moved over a resistance F, Fig. 1, by the water meter &c., thereby varying the ratio of the parts r1, r2 into which it is divided. An induction motor meter has its current winding divided into two parts S1, S2 by a tapping, so that the circuit comprising the winding S1, resistance r1, and an auxiliary resistance W1 is in parallel with the circuit comprising the winding S2, resistance r2 and auxiliary resistance W2. The circuit is completed through a resistance W, the winding S4 of a braking magnet B, and the secondary winding of a transformer T. The pressure winding S3 of the meter is connected across the resistance W. The windings S1, S2 oppose one another magnetically and are so proportioned that they neutralize one another when the slider on the resistance F is at the position corresponding to the zero of the quantity to be integrated. The coils S1, S2 may constitute the primary winding of a transformer, the secondary winding of which is connected to the current winding on the meter. A number of separate quantities may be summed and integrated by providing a resistance F corresponding to each quantity as shown in Fig. 3 each resistance being connected to a separate pair of coils S1, 52. These circuits, each consisting of two branches in parallel, are connected in series between the supply mains. The current through the meter may be maintained constant by means of an iron filament lamp.
