Abstract
1,044,795. Turning-gear for turbines. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Jan. 10, 1964 [Jan. 11, 1963], No. 1265/64. Headings F1K and FIT. [Also in Division H2] Shaft turning gear for power plant such as steam or gas turbines, is cooled by governor oil or lubricating oil from the power plant. A turbine shaft 2 is turned by an asynchronous electric motor having a three-phase stator winding 3 formed in a sheet metal stack 4, and a rotor formed by a coupling 1 of the shaft 2. The cooling oil is delivered through valve 7 and a pipe 6 to an annular chamber 5 surrounding the stack 4 and is returned to the turbine system, preferably to the oil cooler. The chamber 5 is connected through pipes 9 with spray nozzle rings 8 through which the oil is passed to cool the shaft before passing to drains 10 leading to the turbine oil system.
