Abstract

104,462. Wirth, C. A. Aug. 15, 1916. Gauge glasses and the like.-Relates to watergauge glasses of the kind having a valve 1 at each end of the gauge, each valve having a chamber, such as a, with oppositely-disposed valve seats, such as 7, 20, whereby the valve can connect the gauge with the boiler or with the atmosphere through the nipples 15. In the present arrangement, the valve spindle is supported only by the screw 13 at the front end 9 of the valve casing, which is detachable, as shown. The valve member consists of a conical end 17, an integral collar 18, and a part 19.of polygonal cross-section terminating in the screw 13 and hand-wheel 16. The discharge nipples 15 may be connected by a pipe 31 to a convenient place of discharge, and the valve casing 1 may have a removable screw plug fitted opposite the nipple 25 of the gauge glass connexion for cleaning purposes.
