Description
J. FRASER SHOWERVALVE BODY.
APPLICATION FILED mac; 20. 1918.
Patented Feb. 10, 1920.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES FRASER, 0F WILMINGTON, DELAWARE, ASSIGNOR TO SPEAKMAN COMPANY, OF WILMINGTON, DELAWARE, A CORPORATION OF DELAWARE.
SHOWER VALVE-BGDY.
Application filed December 20, 1918.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J AMES FRASER, a citizen of the United States of America, and resident of WVilmington, in the county of New Castle and State of Delaware, have invented a certain new and useful Improve ment in Shower Valve-Bodies, of which the following is a true and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part thereof.
My invention relates to valve bodies especially designed for use in connection with shower baths, and it has for its object to provide for a simple and cheap construction especially designed for use where a multiple series of showers are used, my valve body being especially designed for use in c0nnection with two parallel horizontally running hot and cold water supply pipes located at the level of the valve body or bodies.
The nature of my invention will be best understood as described in connection with the drawings in which it is illustrated and in which- Figure 1 is an elevation showing my improved valve body in connection with horizontally running supply pipes, the shower and the pipe running to the shower. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same parts.
Fig. 3 is a sectional side elevation of the shower valve body taken as on the irregular line 33 of Fig. 4.
Fig. l is a front elevation taken on the irregular sectional line 44; of Fig. 3, and
Fig. 5 is a horizontal sectional view taken on the irregular sectional line 5-5 of Fig. 3.
A and B are the hot and cold water supply pipes which, as shown, are horizontal and parallel to each other and are located at the same level as the valve body. C is the valve body, D the pipe leading from the valve body to the shower indicated at D.
The valve body is provided with nipples E and F by which it is connected respectively with the pipes A and B, and with a vertical nipple G lying in the same vertical plane, by which it is connected to the shower pipe D. The nipples E and F, as shown, connect with the hot and cold water chambers E and F, having the parallel overlapping extensions E and F which connect Specification of Letters Patent.

through the ports K and K with the branches G G of the mixing chamber G. The chambers of the valve body are sepa rated from each other by the webs H, I, I and I and the additional webs J and J in which are formed the ports K and K leading to the mixing chamber. Valves are, of course, supplied to close and open ports K and K, one such valve being shown at N, Fig. 4, said valve being connected to the valve spindle and handle indicated at N, the valve spindles extending out horizontally from the valve body and extending through the stufling box chamber indicated at M.
It will, of course, be obvious to those skilled in the art that the chamber of the valve body can be extensively modified without affecting its essential features, which are that it should embody a mixing chamber and entrance chambers for hot and cold water and be provided with nipples for direct con nection with horizontally running supply pipes and a vertically running delivery pipe situated in the same vertical plane.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. A shower valve body adapted to be coupled to parallel horizontally running water pipes, arranged one above the other and characterized by having a mixing chamher, a vertical outlet nipple from said cham her for the shower connection, hot and cold water nipples extending from the valve body at different levels" in a vertical plane, and each connecting through valve ports with the mixing chamber.
2. A shower plant comprising two parallel horizontally running water supply pipes lying one above the other, in combination with a shower valve body located at the level of the supply pipe and directly connected thereto, said body having a mixing chamber, an outlet nipple for the shower extending from the top thereof, two laterally extending nipples located one above the other and connected to the horizontal supply pipes and valve controlled ported passages connecting the laterally extending nipples with the mixing chamber.
JAMES FRASER.
