Abstract

Stable solid water-dispersible compositions are prepared by reacting urea with a cationic nitrogen-containing compound having fabric-softening properties and containing one or two straight-chain organic radicals containing at least 8 carbon atoms in the presence of 2 to 15% by weight of water based on the total composition and optionally a liquid wetting agent, the mixture being agitated until a solid reaction product is formed. The reaction product may be prepared as flakes. Specified cationic nitrogen-containing compounds are di-(hydrogenated tallow) dimethylammonium chlorides and sulphates, primary tallow amine, primary hydrogenated tallow amine, tallow 1,3-propylene diamine, oleyl 1,3-propylene diamine, coco 1,3-propylene diamine, di-(soya)dimethylammonium chloride and di-(coco)dimethylammonium chloride. Specified wetting agents are ethylene oxide-isooctylphenol condensates, fatty alkylolamides and oxyethylated secondary amines.
