Abstract

The invention comprises aminonaphthol derivatives of the formula: (F/1) wherein "Alk" is an alkylene radical of 2-6 carbon atoms, e.g. ethylene, 1:3-propylene, 1:4-pentylene, and R and R1 are hydrogen atoms, alkyl radicals of 1-4 carbon atoms, e.g. ethyl, or together with the nitrogen form a substituted or unsubstituted saturated heterocyclic radical such as piperidino-, morpholino-, pyrrolidino- or N-methylpiperazino-; and the preparation of these compounds either by heating a 1-aminonaphthol with an aminoalkyl halide R(R1)N,Alk,Halogen, preferably in a solvent in the presence of a hydrogen halide acceptor, or by treating a dihydroxy naphthalene with an alkali-metal bisulphite and heating the resulting adduct with an amine H2N,Alk,N(R)R1.
