A radiant burner comprises a plurality of blocks 10, 11, 12 (Figures not shown) of refractory material assembled side by side and having quadrant-shaped cut-away portions which form circular channels 14 in which a gas and air mixture burns. The bottoms of the channels are closed by perforated plugs 15 of refractory material having ribs 18 which fit into grooves 17 in the channels. The unit formed by the blocks is mounted in a metal casing 13 supplied at its base with air under pressure and gas or vaporized fuel. The blocks may rest on a metal grid.
