Abstract

104,361. Ames, R. Feb. 25, 1916. Aerating.-A circular sewage tank is provided with a frame 82 which is rotated above the sewage by a driving-rope 36 or by reaction or otherwise and carries air-atomizers 17 dipping into the sewage. The sewage is supplied by a pipe 9 into which air is injected by a pipe 41, and is delivered to the tank through openings 5 in the base of a pedestal 2. Air is supplied to the atomizers through a pipe 10 passing through the pedestal 2 and opening into an extension 11, from which the air passes to a rotary chamber 12, radial pipes 15, and vertical pipes 16. The atomizers consist of a metal casing 19, Fig. 3, enclosing a block 20 formed of porous clay, or of several thicknesses of wire-gauze, or of metal with saw-cuts or slots. A ball valve may be provided in the atomizers to prevent rise of liquid in the pipes 16.
