  • Control Of The Air-Fuel Ratio Of Carburetors (AREA)

Abstract

23,991. Busch, R. Oct. 27. Single-stroke pumps.-In a carburetting-apparatus, the fuel is supplied to the carburettor in a continuous jet proportionally to the air supply, and means is provided for braking the air-compressor if the pressure in the carburettor becomes too great. The fuel-distributor comprises a vessel 18, in which a close-fitting piston 19 is moved down continuously at a rate depending on that of the air-compressor and forces the fuel out through a pipe 21 to the carburettor 22. The piston is raised by a hand-crank when required to draw more fuel into the chamber 18. Air is supplied from a compressor 12 by a pipe 33 provided with a number of angularly or tangentially arranged nozzles 34, through the centre of which the fuel-supply pipe 21 passes. The air current is thus given rotary motion, and the air and fuel pass together over a series of alternate circular and annular plates 32. The pressure in the carburettor 22 is communicated through a pipe 36 to the surface of liquid in a chamber 38 divided by an annular partition 37. The inner chamber contains an adjustable float 39 which actuates a braking-device 41 on the compressor 12 by means of a gear 40. A suitable uncoupling-device for the motor may be arranged at any position on the apparatus.
