Abstract

1,043,432. Roof structures. RUBEROID CO. Ltd. Dec. 29, 1964 [Jan. 7, 1964; May 15, 1964] No. 783/64 and 20475/64. Heading E1V. A roof structure comprises a metal cladding member 1 of V-shape in transverse section which spans from eaves to eaves of a building without intermediate support, the metal member being thermally insulated, as by a layer 2 of foamed polystyrene on the outer or inner surface. The external surface of the member 1 may be weatherproofed as by one or more layers 3 of bitumen impregnated glass fibre felt. The metal member 1 may be of boxribbed section and may be formed of a number of overlapping elements each of which extends as an integral V-shaped unit from one edge of the roof to the other, or each of which may extend from one edge to the ridge where the two limbs of the V are connected by a ridge member. The lower ends of the metal members may be interconnected by horizontal ties 11, which may be tied to the apex by a vertical tie 12. The ties 11 may support a ceiling 14. At the walls 5 of the building, the metal members are supported by brackets 5, and co-operate with closing members 6 and guttering 9. The metal member may have a coating of thermoplastic synthetic resin on at least its outer surface.
