Abstract

1,043,283. Lubricating. G. E. ADAMS & CO. Ltd. July 6, 1963. No. 26865/63. Heading F2A. A liquid flow indicator has a sight chamber with an upper inlet for visual drip-feed of liquid into the chamber and a lower outlet whereby liquid may be drawn by suction from the sight chamber to an atomizer or atomizer chamber. In an embodiment, an oil-flow indicator has a sight-chamber 1, Fig. 3 (not shown), with an inlet 2 through which oil 3 drips. The oil collects in a reservoir 4 in the chamber which is connected, via an outlet 5 and a passage 18, to a chamber 6 of an atomizer 7 which, along with the indicator, is formed in a transparent body 9. The chamber 6 has tightly fitted therein a member 20 which has a main bore 22, a reduced bore 23, radial ports 24, and is reduced externally so as to form an annular space 21 with the wall of the chamber 6. In use, oil, supplied to a passage 16 which is connected to the inlet 2, drips into the reservoir 4, from where it is drawn, through the passage 18, into the annular space 21. Pressurized air is supplied to the bore 22 of the member 20 via a passage 19 in the body 9 and is passed to the reduced bore 23. Oil also enters the bore 23 via the radial ports 24 and an oil-mist is formed through an outlet 25 of the member 20. In addition to the oil-flow from the inlet 2 being indicated by the drips of oil 3 the functioning of the atomizer and spray is checked by observation of the oil level in the reservoir 4.
