Abstract

1,022,476. Lubricating. NEWALL ENGINEERING CO. Ltd., and S. W. HOARE. Nov. 11, 1964 [Nov. 11, 1963], No. 44474/63. Heading F2A. A lubricant supply device comprises a body having an upper part 10a and a lower part 10b, the upper part 10a containing a reservoir 11 from which lubricant flows under gravity, through a passage 14, to a lubricant outlet aperture 15 in the lower part 10b; a rotatable member 16, mounted in the upper part 10a and driven by an electric motor 22, via a shaft 23, the member 16 having a pocket 16a which, according to its position of rotation, collects a drop of lubricant from the reservoir and delivers it to the outlet aperture 15; and passages 30 and 31 in the lower part 10b for supplying pressurized air to an annular passage 29 in a plug 25, which is mounted in a bore 27 of the lower part 10b, the passage 29 being connected to a Venturi passage 32, the latter also being connected to the lubricant outlet aperture 15 so that an oil mist is formed and is passed through an outlet duct 33a to a bearing 37, via an annular chamber 34 and a pipe 35. The reservoir 11 has a cover 12 thereon, a filler-plug 13 being provided in the cover 12, and has a filter 11a therein. A sight-glass 18 is provided so that rotation of the shaft 16 can be observed. Surplus lubricant falls to the bottom of the chamber 34 and is returned to the reservoir 11 via an outlet 38 and a pipe 39.
