Abstract
1,043,166. Gyratory crushers. KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT-DEUTZ A.G. June 26,1963 [June 29, 1962], No. 25409/63. Heading B2A. A gyratory crusher includes an eccentricallydriven breaking-head 4 connected to a stationary part of the crusher through a freewheel-coupling 28, so that the head is locked against entrainment by the crusher drive during idle running. As described, the freewheel-coupling 28 is connected to a stationary shaft and to the head 4 via a universal joint, comprising a torsion-bar 26 mounted for rocking but not rotation inside the inner hub 27 of the freewheel-coupling. This hub has an internal diameter sufficient to permit the torsion-bar 26 to follow the movement of the breaking-head 4. Arcuate teeth 24, 25, at each end of the torsion-bar, engage internal teeth 24<SP>1</SP> in the hub 27 and internal teeth 25<SP>1</SP> in a sleeve 37 which is secured coaxially in a spherical socket 14, in an adjustable piston 15. This is held against rotation but is axially displaceable in a bore of the stationary shaft. Adjustment of the piston varies the breaking gap and affords resilient protection from tramp metal entering the crusher. A spherical socket 13 which co-operates with socket 14, includes an opening 31 to permit rocking movement of the torsion-bar 26 during movement of the head 4. The outer ring 32 of the freewheel 28 is screwed to a neck-portion 36 of the breaking-head 4, and because of the action of the ratchet-wheel 30 in the free-wheel, the head can rotate only in one direction and is locked in the other direction when the machine is idling. When material to be crushed is fed between the head 4 and the bowl, a planetary-type backward movement is permitted by the ratchet wheel 30. When the wheel 30 rotates in the direction of the arrow 34, Fig. 3, each of a number of wedging rollers 29 is forced by helical springs 35 into the wedge angle between the wheel 30 and the outer raceway 32, so that there is immediate locking of the rotary movement of the head 4 in the direction of the arrow 34. Lubricating oil is supplied via a bore 23<SP>1</SP> in the piston 15 and a bore in the torsion bar 26, and flows back through the teeth 24, 24<SP>1</SP> into the breaking head.
