Abstract
104,181. Rohm, O. Sept. 28, 1915, [Convention date]. Gelatine and glue.-Glue leather, i.e. scraps cut off depilated hides before tanning, is converted into glue or gelatine by treatment with the enzyme of pancreas or other proteolytic enzyme, with or without the addition of acids, ammonium salts, or amino-acids or other products of the decomposition of albumen. After the material has been in the liquor a few hours, it is boiled. The material may be given a preliminary treatment with a 0.5 per cent solution of caustic soda before the enzyme treatment. Specification 5377/08, [Class 76, Leather], is referred to.
