Abstract

The basis for a liquid detergent concentrate comprises an aqueous H2O2 solution which has a pH greater than 7 and contains a pyrophosphate or tripolyphosphate and a stabilizer which may contain a tertiary nitrogen atom and is (1) a compound containing at least 2 carboxyl and/ or hydroxyl groups, or an amide and a hydroxy or carboxyl group, (2) benzoic acid or a homologue thereof, (3) hippuric acid or (4) an ester of any of these compounds.ALSO:An aqueous solution of H2O2 has a pH greater than 7 and contains at least one pyrophosphate or tripolyphosphate and at least one stabilizer selected from the following classes: (a) which comprises (1) di- or polycarboxylic acids, (2) hydroxycarboxylic acids, (3) di- or polyhydric alcohols, and (4) compounds containing either a carboxylic acid or hydroxyl group together with a carbonyl group which is part of an amide function, at least two of the functional groups in compounds (1) to (4) being separated by two, three or four carbon atoms; (b) compounds similar to (a) (1), (2) and (3), but containing a tertiary N atom in place of one of the separating C atoms; (c) benzoic acid and its homologues; (d) hippuric acid; (e) esters of compounds of classes (a) to (d). Examples of these stabilizers are (a) (1) adipic, tartaric, succinic and citric acids, (a) (2) gluconic and salicylic acids, (a) (3) ethylene glycol, glycerol, mannitol, sorbitol, dulcitol, pentaerythritol, arabinose, fructose, galactose and glucose, (a) (4) lauroyl ethanolamide, (b) ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid, diaminocyclohexane terra-acetic acid and nitrilo triacetic acid, (c) benzoic and toluic acids, and (e) sorbitol borate and quinine salicylate. The phosphate may be potassium pyrophosphate. The stabilized solution is used as the basis for a liquid detergent concentrate.
