Abstract

1,041,448. Aircraft Jet flap devices. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT) Ltd. Aug. 11, 1965 [May 13, 1964], No. 19975/64. Heading B7G. An aircraft propelled by at least one pair of by-pass gas turbine engines 7 arranged so that at least a major part of the by-pass air from a pair of engines is supplied to a common chamber 11 which supplies wing trailing edge discharge slots 15 and jet propulsion nozzles 14, means, e.g. a valve 18, being provided to sustain a desired flow through the wing slots 15 in the event of the failure of one engine. The valve 18 is mounted on a pivot 19 offset from the centre of the valve so that air from one or the other effective engine will be prevented from passing to the respective nozzle 14, thereby deflecting all of the air to the slots 15.
