1,041,243. Paper-making apparatus. ETABLISSEMENTS G. GRAUSS and CENTRE TECHNIQUE DE L'INDUSTRIE DES PAPIERS CARTONS ET CELLULOSES. May 16, 1963 [May 16, 1962], No. 19495/63. Heading D2A. [Also in Division B1] A process for the manufacture of forms, i.e. samples of sheets of paper, in the laboratory, consists in the projection of paper pulp on to the inner surface of a surface of revolution 4 arranged to be rotated about its central longitudinal axis. The pulp may be placed on the base 2 of the drum so that it is projected under the effect of centrifugal force on to a filtering wall 4 which comprises a perforated metal sheet 5, and sheets 6 and 7 of respectively wide and thin mesh, and made of metal, cloth or plastics material. The white water is removed by suction pipe 13. To remove the paper sheet, shaft 3 is stopped, and lid 11, and the assembly of wall 4 and a flange 9, which has apertures 9a, are removed. The pulp may alternatively be supplied by a pipe 14 which is reciprocated vertically or has a vertical series of spaced outlet tubes (Fig. 2, not shown). A fluid film of thickness e is maintained over the wall 4 by supplying fluid through pipe 12 and having either apertures 11b or the inner edge of the annular lid 11 spaced inwardly of wall 4 by thickness e. Pipe 13 would than only be used for removing the annular ring of water at the end of the operation.
