Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:1040726/C3/1> <FORM:1040726/C3/2> in which M is a silicon, boron or phosphorus atom, R is a hydrocarbon or halohydrocarbon group, or the two groups R together represent a polymethylene group, R1 is a hydrocarbon group, R2 is a halogen atom or a hydrocarbon, halohydrocarbon or hydrocarbonoxy group or a group having the formula <FORM:1040726/C3/3> and n is 0 or 1 depending on the valency of M. They are prepared by reacting in an inert organic solvent a bis-alkali metal or bis-Grignard derivative of the diaminosilane R1NH.SiR2.NHR1 with a compound X2MR2(n+1), where M, R, R1 R2 and n are as above and X is an acid radical-the compounds corresponding to the second and third formulae above being formable when R2 is halogen. Examples describe the preparation of compounds from (C6H5NLi)2Si(CH3)2 or (C6H5NLi)2Si(C6H5)2 or (C6H11NLi)2Si(CH3)2 or (C2H5NLi)2Si(CH3)2 or (n-C4H9NLi)2Si(CH3)2 or (t-C4H9NLi)2Si(CH3)2 and (CH3)2SiCl2, from (C6H5NLi)2Si(C6H5)2 and (C6H5)2SiCl2, and from (C6H5NLi)2Si(CH3)2 and SiCl4 or CH3SiCl3, in benzene, toluene or xylene solution.
