Abstract

1,040,070. Electric selective signalling. MAVILOR MANUFACTURE DE VILEBREQUINS DE LORETTE. May 30, 1963 [June 6, 1962], No. 21622/63. Heading G4H. Relative movement of a graduated scale is measured by arranging that when the scale moves the distance between successive graduations, an image of one graduation moves successively on to each of a series of photocells. The pulses from the photo-cells are counted, the result being stored and used to control a machine tool, the displacement measured being that of the workpiece. In a modification, light from the graduations of the scale is multiply-reflected inside a prism before reaching the photo-cells, for reduction of space.
