Identification means particularly for animal ears comprises a tab extending laterally from one side only of a pin 11 provided with an enlarged painted end 12. The pin 11 is passed through the ear and a hole in a fastening plate which is engaged behind the shoulder 13. The pin 11 and tab are made integral e.g. of moulded plastics material also used for the fastening plate.
