Abstract

1,038,866. Warning lamps. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. July 12, 1963 [Aug. 3, 1962], No. 29894/62. Heading F4R. [Also in Division El] A road traffic sign comprises a base 1 supporting a light source 8 and a head 17 having a surface 23 reflecting light passing from the base through a flexible body 10 at a substantial angle to the body axis. A rubber moulding base 1 has a metal cylinder 2 supporting a lamp 8 and is bonded to steel cord reinforced body 10. The upper end of the hollow body is bonded to a moulding 11 having a central opening 14 and a pair of open crescentshaped openings 15, the bonding being partially to the outer wall 12 and partially to the ribs 13 to provide two longitudinal flutes 16. The head 17 is of polystyrene having a lid 21 and a plastic reflector 22, translucent parts 18a of the head bearing a warning sign. Light from the lamp 8 passes through the body and is reflected from the surface 23 through the translucent part 18a and through openings 15 on to reflecting surfaces 16.
