Abstract

1,038,642. Switch contacts. F.T. PRODUCTS Ltd. July 20, 1965 [July 31, 1964], No. 30324/64. Heading H2B. [Also in Division E2] A resilient fastener for attaching a wafer switch contact 20 to a panel edge portion comprises a single strip of material bent to U-shape so as to have a web 13 and two limbs 11, 12 the or each limb having a lug sheared from a central part of at least one of the limbs and bent inwardly so as to extend inwardly towards the opposite limb and rearwardly towards the web and at least one tongue sheared at least partially from the web and bent downwardly so as to lie between the remainder of the web and the lug or lugs. In the construction shown there are two tongues 17 and 18 (not shown) one near each end of the fastener and each has its roots in the limb 11. There is a single lug 19 which passes through an aperture in the contact 20 to engage an aperture in the panel 21. The tongues bear on the top of the contact 20 to hold the lug tightly against the upper edge on the aperture 23 preventing any movement or play between the member and panel. In a modification the tongues are sheared wholly from the web and extend longitudinally of the fastener in opposite directions. Instead of the single lug shown either form can have two lugs one in each limb and any form can have a single tongue instead of two tongues.
