Abstract
1,038,604. Gas filter. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. April 22,1965 [May 9,1964], No. 17049/65. Heading B1T. Dust is filtered by passage through a bed 4 of fine gravel contained in a box 1, moveably mounted on springs 2. and the periphery of the bed is sealed by a fixed, open ended box 8 downwardly extending into the bed. A proportion of the gas enters the bed through the perforated floor 3 of the box 1, and the remainder enters downwardly between the two boxes 1 and 8. The depth of the respective parts of the bed are so arranged that the latter path length exceeds or equals the former. Periodically the outlet damper 5 is closed and box 1 is shaken by out-of-balance weight 6, dust falling from the bed 4 being removed by a screw conveyer 7. Box 8 may be made of sheet metal and lined by peripheral projections 9, which inhibit direct gas flow up the inside of box 8. Gas flow could be downwards.
