Apparatus for removing entrained particles from a gas comprises at least one upright bag filter, the or each-bag filter being closed at its upper end and open at its lower end and irrigated with liquid. As shown in Figure 1 a number of bag filters 12 are traversed by the gas to be filtered in parallel and liquid is supplied to the interior of each bag.
