Abstract

1,038,066. Automatic temperature control systems. MINISTER OF PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND WORKS. June 17, 1964 [May 6, 1963], No. 17769/63. Heading G3R. In an automatic space heating system controlled by the ratio between outside ambient temperature and flow pipe temperature, an overiding boost control is incorporated to reduce the boost as the ambient temperature increases. The ambient and flow pipe temperatures are sensed by thermistors E1, E2 connected in a bridge circuit containing a magnetic amplifier control winding MA1, the main windings of which vary the potential across resistor R7, which added algebraically to the potential across resistor R8 energizes one of relays R x 7, R x 8 to drive the reversing motor M to control the flow pipe temperature. Boost is controlled by the output from a rectifier R x 2 fed from a tapped transformer W6 and which is further varied by a resistor VR1. By closing a switch SW2 infecting a potential into resistor R5 the arrangement may be changed to a lower heating rate for, say, night use.
