Abstract
1,037,530. Sliding doors and windows. E. GOTZ. Feb. 9, 1965 [Feb. 10, 1964; March 26, 1964], No. 5646/65. Heading E1J. A horizontally slidable door or window of the kind in which two or more sashes are flush when the window or door is closed, one of the sashes moving rearwardly and then sliding horizontally behind the other sashes to open the window comprises a locking and swivelling roller combination consisting of peripherally grooved guide rollers 10 with which are associated intersecting guide runner rails 11, 17 with director pins 9 at the intersecting points of the rails 11, 17, at which points the rails have radiused recesses of the depth of the transverse rail 11 so that the rollers can be swivelled in their locking positions from their locking direction parallel to the window into the unlocking direction perpendicular so the window for depthwise movement of the window or door to the rear position shown in broken line, where the rollers can be swivelled again for movement parallel to the other sashes. The rearward movement of the sash is determined by a stop. Sealing around the sash is provided by sealing strips 6. The upper rail of the sash is guided by a pin moving in suitably located grooves in the window frame.
