Abstract

A batch process for copolymerizing ethylene and a lower alkyl acrylate comprises reacting in an autoclave a mixture of ethylene and 0.1 to 5.0 weight per cent, based on the ethylene feed, of a lower alkyl acrylate comonomer at a temperature of 280 DEG to 525 DEG F. and a pressure of 15,000 to 30,000 pounds per square inch in the presence of a copolymerization catalyst. The monomer feed may also include an antioxidant.
