1,036,716. Toggle fasteners. I. R. POLLARD. Dec. 4, 1962 [Nov. 3, 1961], No. 39488/61. Headings E2A and E2B. A toggle fastener comprises telescoping members 11, 12 extendable relative to one another, hook members 10, 15, a lever 18 pivoted at 17 to member 11 and at 20 to a hand lever 21a which is hinged at 22 to the member 12. When the hooks 10, 15 are arranged in the article gripping position the hand-lever 21a is moved downwardly, as shown in Fig. 4, contracting members 11, 12 to grip the article firmly. The hand-lever is held in the fastened position by a nut 24 (not shown in Fig. 4). The position of hook 15 is adjusted by a nut 14. In a modification, the hand-lever 21a is attached to the member 11. Members 11, 12 are of non-circular cross-section, and the levers are formed of U-shaped metal.
