1,273,848. Hooks. J. FLEMING. 19 April, 1971 [28 Jan., 1970; 8 July, 1970; 25 Aug., 1970], Nos. 4058/70; 33039/70 and 40732/70. Heading E2A. A hook 16 which is released by swinging down about pivot 17 is held in the closed position, shown, by a detent 14 which is part of a parallelogram linkage 5, 6, 7, 8 which serves to hold the detent in its fastening position when supported at 1. The detent rests on a stop 20 and the hook is provided with a shelf 21 which supports the load hook (not shown) in window 22. Holes 23 may support extra loads. In modifications, the link 2 has a laterally disposed nose (24) which presses the top link 7 down into the holding position; and the holes 23 may be replaced by an extension 15 of vertical link 6.
