[Also in Division G5] A sound producing device includes a cylinder 8 (Fig. 2) connected to a horn 1 (Fig. 1, not shown) by an air passage. A drainage chamber for rain or sea-spray surrounds the air passage and is defined by a tapered surface 10 of an intermediate member and a tapered surface of a cap 6. The water enters the drainage chamber through a circumferential port 13, and drainage holes 14, 15 lead from the chamber to the outside of the cylinder 8. Sound is produced by a diaphragm, or by reciprocation of a piston 16 in the cylinder 8. The horn 1 lies mainly horizontal and is swept back to provide a vertical inlet end which is surrounded by a horizontal flange 3.
