Abstract

1,036,110. Inflatable raft stowage. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Nov. 27, 1962 [Dec. 7, 1961], No. 43792/61. Heading B7S. A rigid container 10 (Fig. 1, not shown) for an inflatable life raft comprises two or more shells 11, 12 detachably secured together by a substantially non-permeable joint 17 adapted to break when the life raft in the container is inflated. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), the joint comprises a sealing ring 17 secured to the shells by adhesive at 15 and 16. In another embodiment inflation of the life raft causes the ring 17 to tear, in another it causes one of the adhesive bonds 15 or 16 to fail. In the embodiment of Fig. 7 (not shown), the shells 31, 32 have flanges 33, 34 secured together by a layer of adhesive which is broken when the life raft is inflated.
